Policy Summary

Some important facts about your Yacht Hull Insurance are summarised below. This summary does not describe all the terms and conditions of your policy, so please take time to read the policy document to make sure you understand the cover it provides.

Your cover is valid for a calendar year. The policy will be automatically renewed annually on the existing terms and conditions unless you or the insurers give one month’s notice of cancellation or alteration prior to the annual renewal date.

Main Vessel covered for external accident, fire, lightning, explosion, heavy weather, stranding, grounding, sinking/flooding, collision, malicious damage, rodents, piracy, theft, frost/freezing of motors and batteries, breakage and permanent distortion of masts, breakage of standing and running rigging, breakage of shafts struts and propellers, physical damage to main engines and attached gear boxes.

Sails and canvas damaged due to weather alone.
Faulty materials, faulty design and construction, latent defect, electrolysis, wear and tear.
Parts which are not damaged due to an insured incident, but which require replacement as a result of obsolescence or upgrading of parts replaced under policy.

The amount of indemnity under A21 is restricted to £20,000

Section A
Section B

Gear and Equipment covered for the listed accidents to the main vessel, and also for theft from the vessel, or from storage ashore.

 

Section A 16

Tenders are covered for the listed accidents to the main vessel and are also covered for theft.

Make/Model (and serial number if appropriate) must be noted.
Excess £150 unless stated otherwise.

Section A 14

Personal Effects are covered for accidents to the main vessel, and also for theft from the vessel.

Automatically covered up to 2% of the Sum Insured or £2,500 whichever is lower, unless a sum insured for Personal effects is specified.
Single item limit £600 unless otherwise agreed.

Outboard Motors are covered for the listed accidents to the main vessel and also for theft, and for dropping off/falling overboard.

Make/model/serial number must be noted.
Dropping off/falling overboard settled at market value less excess.
Limited amount of cover for tenders/outboards whilst being towed.

Total loss claims settled at agreed fixed value of vessel (sum insured).

Insurers may deduct residual value of vessel or other items

Partial loss/damage claims settled at actual cost of repair/replacement less excess.

About your insurers

This policy is underwritten by a group of major European Insurance Companies. The lead underwriter for your policy will be shown on your policy documents.

Jurisdiction
The contract of insurance is governed by English Law.

Cancellation right

We hope you are happy with the cover this policy provides. However, you have the right to cancel it within 14 days of receiving the policy, without giving any reasons. If you wish to exercise your right to cancel the insurance, you should return the policy schedule, marked “cancelled”, within 14 days of receipt. We will cancel your policy and return the unused portion of your premium payment – you will be charged for the number of days from the date of issue until the date we receive your notice of cancellation. If you do not exercise your right of cancellation within 14 days, you will be bound by the contractual terms for the 12 months period of insurance.

Compensation Scheme

We are informed that the Financial Services Compensation Scheme excludes all contracts of insurance for yachts and their liabilities
