Sailing, Sunsets & Celebration: The 41st Fiji Regatta at Musket Cove
From 12 to 16 September 2025, Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina in Fiji’s stunning Mamanuca Islands came alive with the sights and sounds of the 41st Fiji Regatta Week. Picture this: colorful sails, island tunes, and the warm camaraderie of sailors from all corners of the globe! This iconic event lived up to its well-earned reputation as the must-attend celebration of the Pacific sailing season.

A Tradition of Wind, Waves & Warm Welcomes
Musket Cove has become a second home for cruising sailors. It's not just the protected anchorage or the fantastic facilities—it’s the legendary hospitality that makes everyone feel like family. Over the past four decades, Regatta Week has transformed into more than just a race—it’s a mix of competition, a festive party, and a heartfelt reunion.
For 2025, the vibe was clear: this event is all about connection. It’s about bringing together yachts, crews, families, and island communities to enjoy Fiji’s natural beauty and the joy of being on the water. Will Moffat, Managing Director of Musket Cove, summed it up perfectly—Regatta Week continues to celebrate the island’s rich yachting heritage while building lasting memories and connections for all who join in.
Numbers, Fleet & Fun: The Regatta in Full Swing
While the early days of the regatta were more intimate, in recent years the event has exploded! Over 80 yachts filled the bay, and 2025 promised to be even bigger with early registration and moorings in high demand.
The fleet was as diverse as they come—everything from cruising monohulls, multihulls, local racers, and bluewater adventurers. The racing program was a perfect mix of day races, rallies, and handicapped starts, keeping things competitive but also inclusive for everyone.

Race Courses & Traditions: A True Test of Tactics & Fun
Sailors sailed across the Mamanuca’s protected lagoons and between nearby islands. The courses weren’t overly punishing, but they kept everyone on their toes—tactics and local knowledge were key! One of the standout moments? Pirates Day—a hilarious and exciting tradition where crews dress up, fly flags, and race to Beachcomber Island. The prizes for the best-dressed crews were fiercely contested!
And when the sun set, the fun was just getting started! Live music, themed parties (like “Party Like It’s 1982”), prize-givings, and fireworks capped off the evenings in style. On land, there was something for everyone, with beach runs, family games, clean-ups, and cultural activities to get involved in.
Beyond the Race: Culture, Impact & Community
What sets the Musket Cove Regatta apart is its ability to blend sport with island life. Crews sail, race, and then switch gears to island mode—enjoying great food, vibrant music, and meeting new friends after a day of competition.
For Fiji, this regatta is more than just a sporting event; it’s a global spotlight that draws yachts to its shores. Visiting sailors often linger a little longer—fueling up, exploring the islands, and supporting local businesses. Some even extend their stay to cruise through the Yasawas or beyond.
It was truly a week of fun, connection, and celebration for sailors, their families, and everyone involved—from the organizers to the supporters.
Looking Back on a Fantastic Week
As the regatta came to a close, it was clear: this week was a total blast! The perfect mix of racing, island charm, and good times made it an unforgettable experience.
